 Brief Overview



Bharat Hotels is a leading hotel company from India, presently offering fourteen luxurious hotels, with more than 3600 rooms in the five-star deluxe segment. Headquartered in New Delhi, the company started its first hotel in 1988 under the dynamic leadership of founder Chairman Mr Lalit Suri, who had charted the Group’s unprecedented expansion plans, till he passed away in 2006. The company continues to grow and consolidate its leadership position under the equally dynamic stewardship of Mrs Jyotsna Suri, Chairperson & Managing Director.

Bharat Hotels operates all hotels under ‘THE GRAND’ banner. These include InterContinental The Grand New Delhi, InterContinental The Grand Mumbai, InterContinental The Grand Goa Resort, InterContinental The Grand Palace Srinagar along with The Grand Ashok Bangalore, The Grand Laxmi Vilas Palace Udaipur and The Grand Temple View Khajuraho. Hotel projects under construction (to open 2008-2009) include The Grand Great Eastern Kolkata, The Grand Resort Bekal, The Grand Ahmedabad, The Grand Chandigarh, The Grand Jaipur, The Grand Noida and The Grand Fort Dubai. The company also has plans for Hyderabad, Amritsar, Pune, Gulmarg, Chennai and other key locations.

The Group’s first venture was InterContinental The Grand New Delhi, a 460 room 5-star deluxe hotel located in the heart of India’s capital city, and operational since October 1988. Its next hotel was the 112-room InterContinental The Grand Palace Srinagar. Formerly the palace residence of the Maharajas and one of the leading heritage resort hotels of the country, it is located midst the natural and beautiful surroundings of the mountainous North Indian State of Jammu & Kashmir.

On November 30, 2001, the company signed a deal to operate and manage the 186-room, Hotel Ashok in Bangalore on a management contract from ITDC, under approval of the CCD (Cabinet Committee on Disinvestment, Government of India). The hotel has since been renovated and re-branded as The Grand Ashok Bangalore. In early 2002, Bharat Hotels successfully bid for two more ITDC properties – The 55-room Laxmi Vilas Palace in Udaipur, which now operates as The Grand Laxmi Vilas Palace Udaipur, along with the 47-room property in the temple town of Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh - The Grand Temple View Khajuraho (which has also been completely renovated as a top line boutique hotel.)

In 2003, two new hotels were opened - the 255-luxury resort, InterContinental The Grand Goa Resort and the 368 room super deluxe hotel, InterContinental The Grand Mumbai, in India’s commercial capital Mumbai.

In November 2005, the Company successfully bid for the prestigious 165-year-old ‘Great Eastern Kolkata’ and will re-commission it after restoration by 2008 as - The Grand Great Eastern Kolkata.

In April, 2007, work commenced on The Grand Jaipur & The Grand Resort Bekal. The Grand Resort Bekal is scheduled to open in end 2008 while the construction is on full swing for the Chandigarh & Ahmedabad properties - which are scheduled to open in 2009. On May 02, 2007, Bharat Hotels announced its first overseas project - The Grand Fort Dubai, in collaboration with Nakheel of UAE.

InterContinental The Grand New Delhi
Standing tall in the heart of the country's capital, this 460-room super deluxe hotel, flies the top line 'InterContinental The Grand' flag. Located at Barakhamba Avenue, Connaught Place, the Hotel's towering 25-storey triple tower façade offers spacious deluxe rooms, luxurious suites and Club InterContinental accommodation. The hotel is presently under holistic makeover. For dining & entertainment there is a cosmopolitan choice of 4 speciality restaurants - which includes 24/7 – the 24 hour restaurant, Baluchi – Indian specialities, WOKS – Oriental & Chinese flavours and The Grill – contemporary European cuisine along with the Champions Bar. Extensive banquet and meeting facilities, business centre, swimming pool, health club, salon, shopping arcade and more, complete the offerings of the hotel. Quorum, the business club located on the 3rd floor of the atrium lobby is just perfect for every meeting. It offers four modern meeting rooms with high tech facilities like Video Conferencing Wi-Fi Internet Connectivity, Multimedia, Plasma Televisions and much more. Besides, it also has a private dining area, a Law library and a Business Centre.

InterContinental The Grand Mumbai
The 368-room InterContinental The Grand Mumbai along with its 21 serviced apartments, is located near Sahar International Airport and boasts Asia’s largest atrium lobby. The hotel’s accommodation options are luxurious as well as fitted with the most modern facilities and services. There are 30 suites, 106 Club InterContinental rooms and 232 deluxe rooms, 6 dining & entertainment options which include 24/7 - the 24 hour restaurant; Trendz - with contemporary world cuisine; Baluchi - from Kebabs to Curries; WOKS - with Oriental & Chinese flavours; Beluga - the Cocktail lounge with Cigar bar; Sutra - the bollywood lounge and Box Office - a movie preview theatre. InterContinental The Grand Goa Resort
InterContinental The Grand Goa Resort with 255 suites is spread out on 85 acres with almost a kilometer long beach front. Straddled between two rivers and lapped by the Arabian sea, the resort is one of the finest in Goa. For dining, the resort offers Canacona - with multi-cuisine selections; Sirocco - a Mediterranean restaurant; SeaBQ – with barbeque specialities; Corta’s – the beach shack, open seasonally; Veri Feni – the hotel bar. The multi dimensional leisure facilities include - an international standard 9-hole Double ‘T’ Links golf course, spread out on 40 acres, fresh and seawater sports facilities, extensive health & body rejuvenation services through the world famous Champneys spa of UK - make the resort unique in the guest facilities that it offers. InterContinental The Grand Palace Srinagar
The Company's second venture, the 112-unit heritage resort in Srinagar, which offers 131 rooms, has been operating since April, 1998 and was converted as an InterContinental Hotel in April, 2001 – making it the State’s first international hotel. This former palace residence of the Maharajas, fully restored to its old glory and beyond, is located on Gupkar Road, 15 kms from the airport, overlooking the famous Dal Lake. There are 45 palace suites, 57 palace rooms and 10 cottages. The dining and entertainment options include – The Chinar – multi-cuisine selections; The Dal Bar – the hotel bar; The Drawing Room & The Billiards Lounge; Outdoor Bar-Be-Que – midst picturesque lawns. Leisure facilities include an indoor heated swimming pool, a well equipped health club with gym, sauna, steam, whirlpool and massage; a beauty parlour & barber shop and a shopping arcade, along with tennis courts, a putting green, spacious walking lawns with nearby surroundings ideal for cycling, trekking, fishing & photography. Guests also have access to two adjoining international standard golf courses - a 9-hole golf course and an 18-hole course.

The Grand Ashok Bangalore
Grand Ashok Bangalore is a 186-room hotel with extensive landscaped gardens, built on a 10.33-acre site on Kumara Krupa High Grounds. Located in the heart of the city’s main commercial and shopping district, overlooking an 18-hole golf course the hotel offers 18 suites, 21 Club rooms and 147 Deluxe Rooms. The Dining and Entertainment options include; two speciality restaurants, a 24-hour Coffee Shop and a very popular bar; extensive Banquet facilities for upto 5000 persons, an outdoor swimming pool, beauty parlour & barber shop, tennis courts and other guest services. An added attraction is Rejuve-The Spa...A holistic oasis of fitness, rejuvenation and healing, spread out on two floors over 10,000 sq ft. The hotel also operates a restaurant at the airport and airline flight catering services for various airlines.

The Grand Laxmi Vilas Palace Udaipur
Set atop a hill on the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake with panoramic views of the Aravalli hills, this palace property is built on a 22-acre site in 1911 by Maharana Bhupal Singh. The palace has been carefully restored, with special attention being paid to the accommodation options – which amalgamate all modern day luxuries with unique royal splendours. Our guests now have a choice of 55 Deluxe Palace Rooms and Luxurious Suites. Other guest facilities, include Padmini - the multi cuisine restaurant serving cuisine from various regions of within the country and internationally, Sur Sagar - the Royal Lobby Bar, Aangan - the Banquet Hall for functions up to 120 persons, sprawling lawns, an outdoor swimming pool, the largest in Udaipur - all of which ensure a truly royal living experience. The Grand Temple View Khajuraho
Located 5 kms from the airport, the hotel is the closest to the 'Western Group of Temples'- the main tourist attraction of the temple town (just 200 metres from the temples). The hotel is architecturally built along contemporary lines embellished with inspirations from the rich and exotic locale. After total renovation, the hotel has just been re-commissioned in February, 2007 as a high quality boutique living experience – offering 47 luxurious rooms & suites, international dining options, modern conference facilities, a holistic spa, an expansive swimming pool & sprawling gardens – making it the ultimate destination.

The Grand Great Eastern Kolkata
This 165-year-old hotel, commissioned in 1840, is said to be India’s (then British India) first star hotel. Called the ‘Jewel of the East’, the Hotel was very popular and all through maintained its social exclusiveness. Its exterior style and ornamentation matched its interior elegance, and it became the favourite haunt of the city's elite. It has seen many a celebrity live under its roof – from Ho Chi Minh to Queen Elizabeth II’s retinue, Nikita Khrushchev to Mark Twain, Garry Sobers, Rohan Kanhai among many others. The Group successfully bid for this classic heritage property in November 2005. Presently, under extensive restoration the property will reopen in end 2008. The Grand Great Eastern will offer 244 rooms and suites along with four Restaurants and Bars, the largest conference and banqueting facility in Kolkata, besides all other 5 star deluxe facilities and services.

The Grand Jaipur
Contemporary and luxurious this 244-room property is being built on 3 acres Commencement of work has already begun on April 05, 2007. The architect for the hotel is Mr Achal Kataria and the property will be operational by 2009.

The Grand Resort Bekal
This super luxury Spa destination in God’s own country is spread out on 26 acres. The resort will offer 40 cottages including 5 floating cottages. The architects for the resort are M/s Iyer and Mahesh. The work has already commenced on April 10, 2007 and the property will open by mid 2009.

The Grand Ahmedabad
This 250-room hotel and convention centre will be spread on 5.33 acres overlooking the Sabarmati river, close to new technology developments. Hotel will be operational by 2009.

The Grand Chandigarh
Modern and futuristic this 200-room hotel will be spread out on 4 acres and is located close to a new IT park development in Chandigarh. The property will be operational by 2009.

The Grand Noida
Spread on 6 acres of land, this 250 room five star deluxe property would be operational by end 2009.

The Grand Fort Dubai
This 244-room super luxury resort will be architecturally inspired by the majestic forts of Rajasthan in India. All facilities and services will incorporate the very latest in hospitality concepts and technology – enhanced by subtle touches of India. Another unique aspect of the hotel will be the holistic spa, which will include a wellness center. In addition, the hotel will be fronted by a stunning reflection pool and will feature a high-end shopping arcade, restaurants, banquet/conference rooms and rooftop view terraces.
